Hailsham made the trip up the M23 to face Crawley at Hazelwick School after having a week off….
Both teams started off very evenly with chances occurring for both teams… some fantastic play between the forwards Jamie Hayes and Alexander Smith opening chances but could not quite convert…. Lee Roiii was given a very harsh green card after a non intentional brushing of a Crawley forward (who even said to the umpire ‘tad harsh’) as the vice captain jogged over to the sideline was shown a yellow card for laughing (again bit harsh) so he had a 5 minute breather….. Crawley piled on the pressure but could not work their way through the Hailsham back line and keeper.
Second half…. This is where the goals appeared from. Crawley went one nil up after a short corner was converted after Captain Ryan Moore getting a stick to it but not quite enough. Hailsham took this a pick up. Fantastic performance by all the team as we dug our heels in to then be awarded a Penalty Flick. Jamie Hayes stepped up to place it into the side netting. Crawley converted another short corner which was almost stopped on the line but it wasn’t to be.
