Men's 1s vs Horsham 3

This weekend marked the start of the 2nd half of the season, and what a better way to start than against the current team fighting us for the league title.

Horsham brought a very strong squad to the mighty Sham, and were up for a good battle. They came out of the gates strong, winning a short corner in the first 10 minutes. A lucky flick meant that Horsham made it 1-0.

Onwards and upwards for Hailsham trying to put the pressure back on. Unfortunately, short corners seemed to be our kryptonite today as we conceded another goal from one, after an aerial deflection found the top corner. We had some narrow misses when in attack, with the ball just not wanting to stick onto our sticks inside their D. Just before the half-time whistle, Horsham yet again won another short and slipped the ball inside the near post to make it 3-0.

After the half-time break, Hailsham sorted their act out and brought the heat. We found our rhythm and started to pile on the pressure. Unfortunately, Horsham's keeper played a blinder and kept us out of their net.

Game finished 3-0. Not the most ideal start to the 2nd half, but the season win and promotion is still within our grasp!

Man of the Match - Sam Rham for a solid midfield display. Strong in the tackle and perfectly frustrating the opposition in possession.

Donkey of the Day - a tough one but the vote went down to Bailey Freeland-Jones. Partly for giving away the 3 short corners (bit harsh) but mainly for falling on his face. Twice.
