Men's 1s vs Crawley 2

Hailsham men’s 1s waited eagerly by their phones this morning to see if the game would go ahead or not…. With the nod from Ryan we the bare 11 headed off up the M23 up to 3rd Place Crawley for a 12pm start….

Hailsham came not just running but sprinting out the box and put Crawley under intense pressure. So much pressure in fact the main man for Crawley had no choice but to throw himself at the right wing Whippet that is Dave Antonia to stop him going up the wing! 

Crawley struck gold first with what we can describe as a well placed flick from a short corner. This fired up Hailsham even more so…. 

A special mention to John, Connor and Jordan who travelled up to Crawley the moment they heard the men’s 2s game got cancelled. Thanks lads lads lads 🤙🏽

Glad they made the trip up as Connor came on to replace Dan R and created a training ground drill that Kieran Gurrrmiester slapped the ball home into the bottom right corner to equalise. 

Moments later the young Jedi Master Smith-Jones put ahead with a draggy from a short corner. 2-1 half time!!!

Hailsham dominated the majority of the second half with great play around the back and throughout the midfield with some great short passing possession hockey. Noice! 😋

Hailshams 3rd goal consisted of the above with Lee Roiii making a superb tackle to pin point pass to Bailey Freeland- Jones who found ‘The Gurrrrrr’ unmarked in the D for him to deflect into the back of the net. 

Smith-Jones who played a lonely Wilderness Ranger up front today won a short corner for him to only place another Draggy through the keeper’s pegs. 🤭 4-1 to Hailsham! 

Crawley bought it back to 4-3 which with only a few minutes to go we upped our game back up. Captain Ryan Moore who has made some fantastic saves throughout the game denied Crawley at the end with a fantastic save from a rocket drag flick from the Crawley main man. 

4-3 VICTORY TO THE SHAM!
