Men's 1s vs St Francis 1

Hailsham Mens 1s hosted St Francis 1s in the bid to secure their first 3 Points of the season…. The game started off with a slow start with a few mistakes from both teams. Hailsham we’re awarded a short corner where Smith-Jones drag flick was saved, the ball came out to no other than Lee Roi Humber where he slipped the ball to the back post for David Antonia to slip it into the net… 1-0 Hailsham. Another short corner to Hailsham see a St Francis player stop the ball going in using his feet which resulted in a Penalty Flick awarded. The Young Padawan Josh Smith-Jones stepped up to the spot and calmly slipped the ball in the back of the net. Wasn’t much longer where St Francis came back at Hailsham and after a scrap 6 yards out from the goal… Hailsham picked the ball out from the back of the goal to get back at them. Just before half time Hailsham rewarded another short corner. A bad not so stop at the Top of the D resulted in the back up man slipping  the ball to Humber on the left who placed a clinical reverse hit onto the near post beating keeper and post man. 3-1 to the Sham! Just before half time Humber received the ball and reverse hit/ passed into the back of the net… 

4-1 Half Time to the Shams!!!

Second half saw some fantastic passing hockey on the left between Humber and The Gurrmiester himself Kieran Gurr (who has returned to the Astroturf after a year out) on the left hand side winning a few more short corners.. Open play goals from Smith- Jones and Gurr in pretty much identical positions on the pitch and identical shots into the far left corner. 

HAILSHAM 6-1 St Francis 

All in all a fantastic team effort made by all today. Solid performances made by each and every player. Next week the Sham travel to the first of 3 Brighton teams in the league.
